Beschreibung
The Dom Tower, built between 1321 and 1328, at 112.32 meters is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and the symbol of Utrecht. Since the collapse of the nave between the Dom Church and the tower in 1674 the tower has been separate from the church. Following a recent restoration, the tower can once again be admired in all its glory.
In Zadelstraat, at number 11, lies a granite slab exactly 112 meters and 35 centimeters from the upright Dom Tower. A cross on it indicates the exact point where the top of the Dom Tower would end up if it were to lie flat on Zadelstraat.
There is also a work of art in Zadelstraat, depicting an interplay of lines on the ground. Here the tower casts its shadow over the street.
